Ama Dablam Expedition — Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival In Kathmandu Airport And Transfer To Hotel
Upon arriving in Kathmandu, you will receive a briefing by our trek leader about the Ama Dablam Expedition. Use the day to explore the city and ensure your equipment is in order for the upcoming journey.
Day 02: Rest day for preparation, assignment & briefing
Official procedures and Expedition arrangements in Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu
Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2860m) and trek to Phakding (2610m)
Today, you'll start early in the morning from Kathmandu and take a thrilling flight to Lukla (2,853m), the gateway to the Khumbu Region and the starting point of your Ama Dablam Expedition. Be prepared to catch the first glimpse of Mount Everest during the flight, and enjoy breathtaking views of the mountain ranges and the Kathmandu Valley. From Lukla, you'll proceed to the first stop at Phakding (2,600m) or continue further up to Monjo (2,850m/9,350ft), both situated on the banks of the Dudh Kosi, offering clean tea houses along the Everest base camp trek route.
Day 04: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar ( 3440m)
The trek starts along the Dudh Kosi river and includes crossing suspension bridges and hiking steeply up Namche Hill to reach Namche Bazaar. The town is a prosperous trading centre and a great place to buy authentic Tibetan artefacts. The area offers stunning views of Kangtega and Thamserku peaks.
Day 05: Namche Bazaar – Rest and Acclimatization Day
Today is an acclimatisation day to help your body adjust to the low oxygen levels. Aim to climb high and sleep low to acclimatise faster. Take it slow and enjoy magnificent views of Kwangde, Thamserku, Kangtega, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Mount Everest.
Day 06: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3870m)
After crossing Namche, the Everest base camp trek route takes you above the Dudh Kosi valley, offering breathtaking views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. You'll descend to a lunch spot, pass small villages and tea shops, and cross the Dudh Kosi River. After a break, you'll make a long ascent to Tengboche, taking about two hours. Tengboche is home to an impressive newly rebuilt monastery, where you'll be staying in a new lodge nearby.
Day 07: Trek from Tengboche to Ama Dablam Base Camp (4600m)
Day 08 - 18: Mount Ama Dablam Climbing and Summit Period (6812m).
Establish 3 Camps - Camp 1, Camp 2, and Camp 3
Day 19: Trek from Ama Dablam Base Camp to Namche Bazar (3440m/
Day 20: Trek from Namche Bazar to Phakding to Lukla (2860m)
After Namche, there's a steep descent to Phakding. If the weather is clear, take pictures of Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse. You won't see these peaks again after Phakding. Enjoy a Himalayan sunset in Phakding before a night at a teahouse with a shower. Look forward to a farewell party with the support staff.
Day 21: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel
It's time to bid farewell to the Himalayas! Today, you will fly back to Kathmandu, enjoying the exotic views from the window. Take one last look at the peaks before reaching Kathmandu. Prepare for your early-morning return flight. The exhilarating takeoff from Lukla airstrip offers a final view of the snowy Himalayas. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you'll be transferred to your hotel. Your trek leader will update the team on any flight details.
Day 22: Departure from Kathmandu
You can either enjoy shopping or relax before your flight back home. The expedition ends here, and it's time to think about your next adventure!
