Dear Gopal,
Feed-back regarding the Mt. Thinchingkhang expedition, organised by Adarsh Tours, Travels and Expedition Sikkim.
We, Robert and Cornelia Allenbach, Paul van de Riviere and Robertus Laan, have booked the expedition with Adarsh Tours, Travels and Expedition. Already in the preparation phase, we noticed that the communication with Mr. Gopal Chettri was excellent. We always received answers to our questions and therefore we were able to understand what we were going to expect.
Upon arrival, it appeared that all preparations were carried out so we only had to follow our guide, Dan Bahadur who was appointed by Adarsh as our Sirdar and Liaison officer. In Gangtok a thorough inspection of all the climbing gear was carried out to ensure we all had the proper equipment for the climb. Should something be missing from our part, this would have been the time to detect it, rather than the base camp. This was a very important check and is not done at other companies in the past, so in this view, Adarsh Tours and Travels took their responsibility very seriously.
Then at the beginning of the trek to the base camp, we found that all necessary preparations were carried out and we could leave Yuksom, knowing we were well equipped and well prepared. During the trek, the team of potters, cooks, yak-men, Sherpa’s and naturally our Sirdar proved all to be true professionals. They all very well understood our needs and really made us feel very comfortable. A special note I would like to make about the Cook, Mr. Sangay, who made us feel as were we in a 5 Star Restaurant.
Then the expedition itself. The 3 Sherpa’s, Nima, Phurpa and Thukpa did an outstanding job in securing and preparing the route to the top. Due to the good conditions and their skills, we were able to climb the Summit without any problems. The climb was certainly not easy, however, thanks also to our own climbing experience, we managed well. It is noteworthy to state that the mountain is definitely a technical climb and that all climbers who attempt the mountain must have extensive mountaineering skills (use of ice axe, crampons and climbing skills in steep snow or ice).
Above all I would like to point out the excellent social skills of our team members that greatly helped to make the whole expedition to an outstanding success!
Overall I would highly recommend Adarsh Tours and Travels to future visitors to Sikkim!
Should you need any further information, please don’t hesitate to ask me.
Best regards,
Rob,
