Day 01: Arrival - Gangtok
Pick up from Bhudrapur airport/Badogra/NJP Station. Meet the guide at the airport. Meet the guide at the airport and drive to Gangtok. (126 km/5 hrs). Overnight hotel.
Day 2 Tour around Gangtok including Rumtek Monastery, Flower show, Institute of Tibetology, Tashiview Point, Chorten Stupa, Banjhakri Falls. Rumtek is one of the biggest monasteries in Sikkim, which was built in the year 1960 by His holiness 17th Karmapa who fled Tibet due to Chinese aggression. Flower Show houses large number of flower as well the ornamental plants of Sikkim. During the flowering season, exhibitions and competitions are held here. Sikkim has around 4000 species of flowering plants. Hanuman tok situated at hilltop has a Hanuman Mandir and during the clear weather Kanchendzonga range can be viewed at its best. Institute of Tibetology houses large number of Buddhist scriptures as well acts as museum. Tashiview point provides an excellent view of Mount Kanchendzonga and far-flung North Sikkim Villages. Telescopic view of mountains is available. Chorten stupa is situated near Tibetology. Banjhakri falls has statues of samanist/nature worshipper priest.
Day 3 Day trip to Tsongo-Babamandir/Nathula Pass. (Babamandir, Nathula not opened for foreigners.)
Tsongo Lake, Babamandir and Nathula are situated in same circuit in high altitude area. Tsong is at 12400 feet, Babamandir app. At 13000feet and Nathula is at 14600 feet. Tsongo Lake is an alpine lake with lots of rainbow trout though it is a sacred lake of Sikkim. Visitors are not allowed to do boating and entering the lake. Baba mandir is situated much higher with a mandir established and maintained by 17th Mountain Brigade. Baba Harbajan a soldier who perished in a gushing river in 1960 later re surfaced to protect the border of Indo-China. Nathula pass is gateway to Tibet and before Chinese aggression this used to be only a silk route to Lhasa. Nathula to Lhasa is only 470 kms. Trade is being carried out between the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) and Local Sikkimese in the Indian side. Gangtok to Tsongo—Baba Mandir drive is one of the most interesting as it provides an altitudinal changes along with the vegetation changes. During winter the region is full of snow. Nathula is opened for visitors on the following days: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,Saturday and Sunday.
Day 4 Gangtok drive to Lachen, 27 kms. 8980 feet. Gangtok drive to Lachen, enroute halt at Seven Sisters Water Falls and continue driving. Half way halt for Lunch in the road side restaurant. Arrive at the bifurcation point-Chungthang. Further drive for another 27 kms arrive at Lachen, transfer to hotel.
Day 5 Lachen drive to Gurudogmar Lake, 61 kms. Early morning head for Gurudogmar Lake at 17100 feet. Arrive at Thangu after a drive of 29 kms. Thangu is an extremely small village with couple of houses. Thangu is at 13550 feet. Further drive of 3 kms will take to Chopta Valley. A real scenic beauty. After another 32 kms of drive, arrive at Gurudogmar Lake. Heaven on earth. Later return to Lachen, lunch further drive to Lachung for 2 hours, 51kms. Lachung is situated at 8738 feet. Scenic beauty while traveling to Lachung is at its best with long cascading water falls. High mountain overlook Lachung Valley.
Day 6 After breakfast visit Yumthang valley where there is a hot spring and the river runs through the middle of the valley. All around snow clad peak surround the valley. Before Yumthang, Singba Rhodendron Sanctuary shelter numerous species of Rhodendron which are in bloom during the spring time. Yumthang valley is covered by snow clad peaks. Further we visit Yumesamdong or locally knows as 0 point. It is located at 15000 feet. Snow is in abundance after the autumn season. L ater return to Lachung.
Day 7 Lachung drive to Gangtok.
Day 8 Gangtok drive to Darjeeling, 97 kms, 5 hours. Drive to Darjeeling is within a Himalayan belt through deep forest and tea gardens. As we approach Darjeeling, in a clear weather mount Kanchendzonga the third highest peak in the world is seen majestically.
Day 9 Early morning visit Tiger Hill for sunrise view later also visit Ghoom Monastery, halt at Batasia loop. After breakfast visit Himalayan Mountaineering institute, zoo , evening at leisure to roam around the town.
Day 10 Darjeeling drive to Bagdogra airport. It is 94 kms.
